Paintings
I work in oil, acrylic, watercolor, colored pencil, pastel pencil and combinations. I love to experiment with the mediums and see what happens. Keeping up with new trends and products keeps me challenged in my own work and gives me ways to help my students reach their goals. I am inspired by so many different things but in all of my work I seek to glorify Jesus my Lord because He is the source of all things.
I work in series' and I always keep a few different projects going all the time. You may notice some recurring images and I thought I might address some of those. Time is an element alluded to in many ways in my work. Blue EKG lines appear in some pieces and it is a reminder of how fragile and transient life is. Timepieces like watches, clocks, hourglasses, and even moon phases recall the speed at which time is passing. Mazes represent the present, a place and time that we are all trying to navigate. Empty frames stand for the future because it is not yet filled in. There are many other images, phrases, quotes, lyrics and scriptures but I think the prevailing idea is to make the most of the time you are given.
