The Good Shepherd
This painting is a self portrait. I am that little lost sheep that Jesus found and saved.
I have not yet been led to draw or paint the face of Jesus but I have painted and drawn His nail pierced hands several times.
It is oil on panel and is 28 X 30.

Heart & Soul
I worked on this painting in stages over several years. I would get discouraged and put it away only to go back to it later and keep trying. I started with the idea of the cover of Grey's Anatomy text book because I have always liked that image. From there the other elements just sort of evolved. I wanted DaVinci's Vetruvian Man. The measuring tape along with the EKG line are reminders to evaluate how you are spending your life because it is brief. The sheet music is Hoagy Carmicheal's Heart & Soul. There is an anatomical heart illustration to balance the Grey's Anatomy graphic. The angel statue proclaims the universal ( solar system images) truth of the message. Along the tape is the scripture," Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom." and beside the key it says "Now set your Heart and Soul to seek the Lord" Included in the painting are the definitions of heart and soul. Seen often in my work the clock face and the key are recurring references . The clock speaks of how fast time is passing, often the hands are absent because they spin so fast they have become a blur. The key is always Jesus. He is the key to everything in life. The image of the key often has a red cord attached representing His shed blood.
